Envy Adams
THIS BIG ONE, Envy Adams! A famous rock star and lead vocalist for the band ‘The Clash At Demonhead.’ She brutally dumped Scott in college before the events of the comic. She dated Scott during college and was extremely shy and nerdy before deciding to completely revamp her self-image by selling her figures and other possessions for CDs and new clothes. Her real name is Natalie V. before she decided to go by her stage name Envy Adams.
Envy’s hairstyle was inspired by the character Asuka from the anime EVA.
Confirmed here!
It was also a huge coincidence that the movie Envy looks strikingly similar to Misa from Death Note!
Why’s Envy’s hair blonde in the movie instead of red like in the comics?
Answered on Bryan Lee O’Malley’s Tumblr!
TLDR;
Edgar Wright the director of the movie read Vol 2 and Vol 3 without the spine so he didn't see the colored version of Envy on the cover. When he read it he imagined Envy with Blonde hair. When they did costume tests they tested Brie Larson (the actress for Envy Adams) with red hair and blonde hair. Edgar Wright and Bryan Lee O'Malley agreed the blonde looked better!
Personally, the red wig they used was too orange, they should have used a red like this instead!
Concept art for Envy Adams and Lynette Guycott from the game! More here!
The posters in Envy’s collage room from left to right!
The pink poster in the first image (with Juile and Scott) I have no idea what it is. It could be the Japanese group Larc en Ciel or Sloan I’m not sure. :p
The poster next to the pink poster is a Ghibli film called “Porco Rosso”!
The poster above her computer is REVOLUTIONARY GIRL UTENAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And next to the Utena poster is the Japanese artist Masami Okui who’s on the Utena soundtrack for performing the opening for the anime.
During the interview section with Envy and Todd she wears the same outfit from vol 3 of the comics.
